In line with Canadian public policy, one can apply for an employer-specific work permit while on a visitor’s visa in Canada.

What this means in practice is that if an expatriate visiting Canada, finds employment during their stay, they may apply for an employer-specific work permit while in the country. The starting point is to apply for a visitor’s visa.
